An EPA official is implicated in a cover-up involving glyphosate (Roundup®) and Monsanto

Once again Monsanto, the manufacturer of Roundup®, is in trouble

In an expose in NaturalHealth365, EPA official Jess Rowland, a former deputy at the EPA Office of Pesticide Programs, is being accused of breaking ethics rules and collaborating with Monsanto to institute a cover-up of its decision to declare that Roundup® is not likely to be a carcinogen.

While working at the EPA, Rowland chaired a Cancer Assessment Review Committee which found “insignificant evidence” to conclude that glyphosate (Roundup®) causes cancer, and determined that glyphosate was “not likely to be carcinogenic to humans.”

Attorneys representing 50 lawsuits accusing Monsanto of failing to warn of the cancer risk associated with glyphosate, is also seeking to depose Rowland (compel him to respond to questions) regarding his association with Monsanto. The EPA denied the request to have him deposed, but a US District Judge believes the deposition is “appropriate”.

Monsanto is not happy and is trying to keep internal documents from the public, stating that a significant portion of them should be kept confidential. However, since the EPA is a governmental body and works (ostensibly) for the people who are the government, the plaintiff’s attorneys are insisting interactions with Monsanto should be subject to public scrutiny, implying that Rowland’s primary goal was to help Monsanto.

I think it is time to step up and demand that Monsanto releases all documents and communications between them and the EPA, especially with Rowland.

Update on Pesticides

Have you ever thought of what pesticides are doing to children? The so-called tolerance levels that the United States Environmental Protection Agency (the EPA) suggests are safe for human consumption, are only good for the agriculture industry.

These levels are not safe for infants and children. Ignoring growing research that pesticides are harmful to the very young in low concentrations, the EPA continues to allow more pesticides on fruits and vegetables than scientists document as being safe.

Brain Damage caused by Pesticides

Even in small doses, they have linked pesticides like chlorpyrifos to brain damage and damage to the nervous system in children. Who would want to, knowingly, feed their children something so damaging? A child who eats 1 piece of fruit like a peach or even only 1 strawberry with the allowable residues of chlorpyrifos, exceeds EPA’s own safe exposure levels.

I just wonder how that can be. I thought they meant these institutions to protect the people and also the environment. It seems our environment gets more and more polluted every day and people’s health does is not important at all.

EPA is not functioning well

This information comes from EWG Action Alert and it is good this information gets out. EPA’s role in our society is not what it should be. Instead of keeping us from harm, the EPA allows harmful products to be used on fruits and vegetables.

Nearly 70% of all conventional fruits or veggies test positive for at least 1 pesticide, even after having been washed and peeled.

Do not miss this important video, especially if you have children.

A very useful book

The writer Andre Leu opens the eyes of his readers with important information on the following myths.

Are these pesticides rigorously tested? No, they are not.

A small amount is not harmful, right? Yes, it is harmful.

The regulatory authorities review unbiased evidence before a product is declared safe? Sadly, that is not so.

An enormous myth is that pesticides are essential to farming and pesticides keep our planet from starving? Nonsense, but as money comes before health….

Grow and or buy Organic

Knowing the prevalence of pesticides in our food supply, it is easy to understand the drive to buy organic and if you are lucky to have a plot of land to grow your own food. That is the only thing you can do to prevent or at least ameliorate the disastrous effect of having chosen Mr. Scott Pruitt as the director of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Prior to Pruitt’s appointment, EPA had shown signs of wanting to reduce the enormous amount of pesticides used each day. With this person being installed as the director of the EPA, our hope of a cleaner environment went up in smoke.

Conclusion

A couple of years have passed since I wrote this post and not much has changed. Bayer bought Monsanto and the number of court cases has only augmented. The first verdicts have condemned Monsanto to pay huge fines. Sadly, pesticides are still being used on a big scale.

How can it be that our food quality has deteriorated so much in such a short time? Natural food that grows perfectly well and which would have a great value for our health is being attacked by harmful products. Not even washing and peeling can help. Why do we allow this to happen?

I have made a special page for you. Before you leave, have a look at Recommendations. I hope you find something of your interest.

I find it depressing and unacceptable that we have allowed so many poisons to find their way into our bodies, and this is just the next example. I’m sure all the CEOs at Monsanto eat organic farmer’s market produce themselves and stay way far away from conventionally raised food. It would be nice if we all had that luxury, right? But because of their misdeeds and the EPA’s suppression, what’s available as food to most people is poison, plain and simple.

    Good afternoon Penelope,

I can only agree with you. It is horrible what happens to us people, we pay with our health while some big corporations fill their pockets. The same applies to FDA, they approve chemical medicine while their own people would not touch it or give to their own families. The more natural food you eat the better your health will be. People should speak up against being manipulated. One should refuse to eat manipulated food made with GMO and pesticides. Thank you for visiting my website.

This is a concern of so many people and that is being able to eat good quality foods without the use of using pesticides. Many people are now turning to organic as a more healthier and safe lifestyle because the use of these chemicals, for the most part, is not used on these products.
I do believe that what you are sharing here is really helpful and informative.

    Good evening Norman,

Thank you for visiting my website and leaving a comment. I am also very concerned about all the unhealthy things of modern day life. We cannot change all of it, water and air are quite difficult to tackle. What you eat is but your own choice. Going back to nature is the solution, that is why I try to grow as much as I can on my property

This is certainly a troubling article to read through – would I be right in thinking that Roundup is a garden/plant product? I’m sure it’s a type of weedkiller over here (in the UK)?

Anyway, this sort of thing is quite an eye opener, especially when you take into consideration that these companies have been banding these products across the globe for years now. Really interesting post, thanks for bringing it to our attention (and please keep us updated!).

    Good evening Chris,

Thank you for your comment on my post.

Roundup is sprayed on crops. People also use it privately in their gardens. It is used to spray weeds which might grow on school playgrounds. When you look at the history of Monsanto it is bone chilling. They were one of 9 wartime government contractors who manufactured Agent Orange. A collective court case of Vietnam veterans against Monsanto was settled out of court. The people of Vietnam still suffer the consequences generations later.

Thank you for this article and your site as a whole.

I appreciate your dedication on this subject matter and I have saved your site to read more and inform myself.

I have always refused to take any of these pesticides or herbicides products and try to tend my garden and flowers with natural, homemade products.

I do despise companies like Monsanto, knowing that they don’t have public health etc. in mind. I have read, in the past, what these pesticides can do to humans and animals alike. It always makes me really mad that governments just don’t care and only have the dollar signs in their eyes.

I have nothing against earning money but, I do believe it can be done with honesty and transparency, especially, when it comes to public health and peoples’ lives.

Monsanto is bought off by a German company, not sure though which one, and what this will mean in the future?

The German company Bayer fused/bought Monsanto. Bayer has a black past from Nazi times. Bayer was not pleased as recently Monsanto lost its first court case and was condemned to pay millions in compensation to a man who had used Roundup for spraying a school playground. Mr. Johnson is dying from cancer. Thousands of court cases are awaiting Monsanto, it was high time.

Hello Taestke. This is a very insightful article, with scary information. That glyphosate is carcinogenic is not pretty at all, considering we know how many farmers are using the burndown herbicide extensively. Monsanto needs to come out clean and resolve the issue. Its high time the whole world shifted to organic I reckon. This is an eye opener, thanks for sharing.

    Good evening Victor,

I am sorry but have to tell you that Monsanto will continue poisoning us till we, globally, stop buying its products. They have a many-year-old history of inventing and producing dangerous substances. Just take Agent Orange as an example.

Taetske, unfortunately this article is causing me to develop wrinkles on my face rather than helping me fight anti-aging.   So, for a moment, I will try to breath, relax and thing about the lovely picture of your farm that you showed in the roundup article.

In recent years, I have learned more about how big Ag and big corporations like Monsanto are more concerned about their bottom line rather than people’s health.    I have heard way to many “suggestions” that they have people that have similar interests supporting them in key agencies like the EPA and the USDA.    On one hand, I would prefer to think that these assertions are really just a conspiracy theory.   Yet, as time elapses the facts are starting to add up that suggest otherwise.

In the US, when I have to purchase food from others, my first preference is to buy from a local farmer or rancher that I know.   My second preference is from a farm that considers themselves to be “beyond organic.”   This means they don’t agree with the USDA’s organic rules that allow some questionable substances to be used.  They prefer to more than what the USDA requires.   They are not willing to fund the USDA certification to prove they are organic either.

Thank you for giving me a reason to renew my commitment to local agriculture and teaching people how to grow their own gardens.

    Good evening Sondra.

I am sorry about the wrinkles, that was not my intention. My intention is, if possible, to wake up the people to the crazy things that happen in our modern life.

Healt care is getting better? Where are the results? People are getting sicker, they are being brainwashed in buying unnatural man-made foods. GMO, pesticides, plastic in the food and polluted water and air. It does not look good and I wonder where it will lead us all.

Luckily a lot of misdeeds are coming to light. I also think that many people become aware of it and do not want to follow blindly anymore what is dictated to them. We have a brain and should use it, be informed that is the first important step.

Thank you for leaving a comment on my website. I hope you have downloaded your free PDF?

Taetske, thank you for your revealing post. I think most of us realise that pesticides are used for mass production but don’t appreciate they are still on the fruit and veg when we pick them up from the supermarket. Washing and/or peeling them will have little effect as I understand. I would love to be able to grow my own fruit and veg but knowing my gardening skills, I don’t think it would work.

I know not everybody is a born gardener. You still have the possibility to go to your local farmers market and buy your organic products. Over the years your health will tell you that you made a good decision

    Regards, Taetske.

Md. Asraful Islam

Thanks so much for sharing this information. I did not know that Roundup made by Monsanto is so widely used in the world, even if it is so dangerous.

I have learned a lot from reading your post. I did not realize that pesticides can cause brain damage. I think the application of food pesticides should be stopped now as it is so harmful to our health, especially to that of small children.  The effects of pesticides can cause a variety of diseases in humans of which I was not aware.

Finally, I would like to say that your article is a conscious article and health-related. I would like to share it with my Facebook group if you allow me.

    Good Morning Asraful,

Thank you for visiting my website and for leaving a comment. I hope you have downloaded your free PDF? Tulip widget.

Monsanto is one of the chemical companies that invented Agent Orange, which was used in the Vietnam war.

Their product Roundup is still being used worldwide, killing fauna and flora. We ingest this pesticide by eating sprayed crops. Money comes before health. It is high time we realize this and stop this pesticide from being used on our food.

You are welcome to put my post on Facebook, I will do the same.

    Regards, Taetske
