Sugar is more addictive than Cocaine!

We eat too much sugar

Everybody knows by now that eating too much sugar is bad for you. Strangely enough, this knowledge has not stopped people from eating more and more sugar every day. Even if you try to be careful.

The food industry pulls some dirty tricks on us by hiding sugar in about any man-made food you buy. The eating of sugar causes obesity, insulin spikes and elevates the risk of heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

The Loss of Vitamins and Minerals

What perhaps is not so known is the fact that sugar depletes and reduces the absorption of important vitamins and minerals. Too much glucose in our system can cause a deficiency which one should really take seriously.

Vitamin C is important for our immune system and also for tissue regeneration, and as it uses the same transporters as glucose,  too much glucose can interfere with the correct function of this vitamin.

Magnesium gets depleted by too much sugar but is needed by just about every organ in the body.
Calcium cannot be absorbed while eating sugar.
Chromium is drained by sugar. This trace mineral has an important role in blood sugar control, and its absence will cause higher blood sugar levels.

Inflammation

Then there is the deadly connection between Sugar, Acidity, and Inflammation. The intake of sugar has seen a sharp rise in the last 50 years. This is due to mainly soft drinks.
Today Americans are eating an average of 133 pounds of sugar a year and that does not even count for all the bagels, pasta, and bread that break down to sugar.

Sugar has been related to a rise in Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Older people fare much better on a higher fat and protein diet. Sugar makes your pH more acidic, and that is the beginning of the end. If one does not eat fruits and vegetables but concentrates on eating man-made foods, slowly but surely you will create an acid environment which is the ideal place for illnesses to form.

It will make a sodium/potassium imbalance, to then augment your stress hormone cortisol, which makes you stay in a constant alert situation.

This will be followed by the making of more free radicals, which then damage your mitochondria, which in its turn accelerates aging and fat storage. In total, not a good picture. This is not the right way to reach old age in a healthy body.

Are you nervous as you have too much stress?

We live a stressful life, always on the run. Our food is often not the right type of food. We need something to help our immune system. We need to be protected from free radicals. With all the problems we have, we might feel down.

Organixx has some useful products. The product below helps you with the above-mentioned issues.

.

Essential Oils and so much more

One can call this book a classic

When scientist John Yudkin wrote his book Pure, White, and Deadly in 1972 he was mostly ignored. Now, 50 years later, we know he was right, but it has not changed our habits. We are eating more sugar than is good for us. Obesity and many other conditions related to eating sugar are on the rise, and if we do not change our chip in a few generations, we will all be obese.

.
It is possible to lower inflammation

To lower inflammation the same as oxidative stress, you will have to be more than careful about what you put into your mouth.
Increase healthy foods: fruits and vegetables, raw or lightly cooked and if possible organic.

If you buy man-made food, you have to read the labels carefully. If it says “low sugar” look on the back and read nutrients facts. It would be a good thing to check the following link, which was written by Jonathan Bailor: 57 Sneaky Sugars to Avoid.

Pseudo healthy foods

Beware of “healthy” foods and especially drinks. What you find in a “healthy grocery store does not make it healthy. Also, remember that carbs break down to sugar like the bag of potato chips etc.

Often the so-called healthy foods are worse than normal foods. Healthy foods often have artificial sweeteners, bad fats, and other additives. The best thing is to read the labels. Do not buy something which you cannot read and understand what is written there.

Do not miss the following YouTube video. It is the biggest food epidemic of all time. We have fallen for this lie, wake up.

I would like to mention one last thing

Sugar is cancer’s preferred food, cutting out sugar is the first thing one should do if diagnosed with this illness. Cancer has no chance to grow in alkaline and well-balanced body. Your immune system, if kept healthy with the right foods, will be able to keep it at bay.

I have made a special page for you. Before you leave, have a look at Recommendations. I hope you find something of your interest.

Thank you for a very informative article about too much sugar in one’s diet. I agree that sugar is very addictive. I do not drink sugar sodas but as you say, there are certain foods that break down to sugar in the body that are just as bad for you. My wife and I are in our third week of the South Beach diet. It is very challenging to stay on a program that includes mostly lean meats, vegetables and low fat cheeses. So far we are doing it and I guess we just have decided that we want to eat more healthy. Do you feel that sugar substitutes are just as bad as sugar or a heathier choice?…Dennis

    Good evening Denis,

Thank you for commenting on my Sugar post. You tell me about your new diet your wife and you are following. Vegetables, grass fed beef ok, but please not low fat cheese, I donot agree with the low fat advice. Stay away from men-made fats but eat natural fats like virgin olive oil or coconut oil. Nuts and seeds is all ok.
I have written a post on sugar substitutes. There again stay away from the chemical ones, they can even make you gain weight, honey or the right kind of Stevia are fine but of course not heaps of it.

I wish you luck with your diet.

Hi! Wao! This post has a lot of important facts concerning sugar. The issue with the free radicals which damage our mitochondria is really something to be careful about.

Your affirmation is very accurate: “Sugar is cancer’s favorite food.” Thank you for this very useful post. Worth sharing. Cancer has no chance to grow in a well-balanced body!

    Good afternoon Henry,

Thank you for leaving a comment on my website. I hope you downloaded your free PDF?

These modern times are not making it very easy to stay healthy. One has to investigate, read, and try out different things to find what is a good personal diet. One should not believe the advertisements as they are meant to brainwash and then make us buy the wrong foods.

As a person who struggles with type 2 diabetes, I am well aware of the impact of sugar and other carbs. Thank you for sharing this information so that other people, too, will know the dangers of our “western” diet which is making many of us very sick.  Many people don’t think about the carbs they eat being so bad for them, but as you pointed out, they are because they turn into sugar. I did not realize the relationship between sugar and vitamins and minerals. Thank you for mentioning that, too.

    Good afternoon Karin,

The closer we eat to nature the better our health will be. Of course, this is only a valid statement buying organic as sadly too often the fruits and vegetables we buy are sprayed.

If we eat man-made foods it can get a lot worse as there are so many hidden things one has no clue about. When the FDA gives green light to me it does not mean much either as often they got it wrong to then, years later, tell us, sorry……. but then it is already too late for many people. Be as informed as possible, that is the best we can do.

Thank you for your comment. I hope you downloaded your free PDF?

I wonder if you have ever seen the documentary, “Fed Up”? I saw it a couple of years ago and it is on this issue of sugar and processed foods… I think you would enjoy it and become angered about it just as I did.

I have lived with people with deabities  and  it’s not good knowing very it could have been avoided if we had  avoided so much sugar but I  think we only think of sugar when we ate taking sweetened food but we fail to see on orther Man  made sugars in our daily food hence making already a grave situation more worse . Thank you for the wise words

When you look back at these past 50 years it is sad but a fact that the people are not healthier but rather the contrary. Healthcare is better? well, where is the result? Your health starts with eating the right things. Clean, unsprayed foods. All these man-made foods to satisfy the demand has made us a lot sicker. As a rule of thumb if it does not grow one should not eat it.

Hello Taetske,

First I want to congratulate you for the excellent information on the care we must have in our sugar consumption.

I did not know that sugar incredibly increases our chances of getting cancer.

An alkaline body, the opposite of acid, is capable of overcoming it radically.

Be very careful with what we wear to our mouth, always read the labels.

Thank you very much for all your excellent advice.

Have an excellent end of the year and a better 2019.

Greetings! Claudio

It is quite amazing what health benefits it can have with a closer look at what we put into our mouth. I have noticed myself that sitting more at the computer and nibbling on little things here and there does not do me any good. I will start a new protocol in the new year and a good detox.

Thank you for your kind wishes. Wishing you also a happy, healthy, and a successful 2019.

What an article, I did not realize just how bad sugar was until I read this, and I always prided myself in the fact that I do not have a sweet tooth as such, but reading this article, I have learned that I am taking sugar in other forms.

That means I have to evaluate my eating habits, and to hear that cancer thrives on sugar, and also sugar increases chances of getting Alzheimer’s and Dementia, we really need to cut down, on sugar.

I always knew that the so called healthy and low this and zero that, are not good because in order for the companies to sell they have to make it taste good, and if they take away the sugar or fat or salt, they have to add something else to replace what they have taken out so the taste can be good.

anyway, I found this article very eye opening and interesting to read, very well written too.

Thank you so much for gathering this information for us.

You are right, this new hype about low fat ( very bad, we need fats but good ones ) or the no sugar ( also very bad, they add things like Aspartame which is even worse ) can make one confused. There are just too many products on the market and most man-made foods are not good for us. Reading labels is a must but often one does not know what the word means and one can neither pronounce it. The best thing one can do is to eat food that has no labels.

Several members of my family were or are diabetics ,a brother, a cousin who died of diabetic compllcations, but I have not had this affliction,

I try to eat a balanced diet ,and I am very active, perhaps this has a bearing on it.

It is surprising some of the items shown,I don,t agree that bread, pasta, rice, etc are, foods that should be avoided.

Perhaps we should supplement our diet with minerals ,such as magnesium, calcium ,vitamin c etc.

I believe that moderation in the amount of a particular food one eats is good, certainly I don,t think one should go overboard either,in the amount we eat.

The advice on avoiding cancer is very important, and is well received, one should do the best, to maintain an alkaline body system, to prevent this scourge from having any chance to attack us.

    Taetske

    Good Morning Robert,

In old times there was no problem with bread, pasta, and rice. Even if carbs convert into sugar in old times it would be nearly the only sugar we would eat. We humans have been so stupid to invent GMO, pesticides and a long list of highly dangerous substances which have ruined our food. Also, our lifestyle has changed considerably. From walking or riding the bicycle now we take a car and are sitting the whole day on our bum.

It is a good thing you are active, I suppose you do sports? Still, only being active is often not enough to remain healthy. We have turned away from nature which provides for our needs. We prefer man-made foods and that is where one of the big problems of modern times lies.

Thank you for leaving a comment on my website. I hope you have downloaded your free PDF?

This article definitely hits the nail on the head. A lot of people are aware of the dangers of excess sugar but still cant get themselves off of carbonated drinks or snacks as well as other sweet foods that tend to harm our health in the long run. It is therefore safe to say that indeed, sugar is addictive.

So many people have embarked on dieting journeys from time to time only to end up quitting halfway, either due to the fact that it feels boring or they just out right lost interest. I try as much as possible to maintain a healthy balance between junk food and healthy foods including organic fruits and vegetables. Do you think that excess salt intake can also lead to diabetes?

Dec 31.2018 | 08:47 pm

    Taetske

    Good afternoon Zuchii,

So sorry to disappoint you on the first day of the new year. There is no “healthy balance” between junk food and healthy food. Try and read the label of junk food. Can you pronounce the words and do you know what they mean? This is really serious as we are being brainwashed in buying dangerous foods, actually, this stuff does not deserve the name “food”.

You ask me if too much salt is dangerous and can lead to diabetes. In Holland, we have a saying: Any word which has too much in front of it is no good. The only exception is too much Love.

I will give you the link to my post on Salt, hope you will find your answer there.

Riaz Shah

Hey Taetske

No wonder I feel like something’s wrong, I seem to have taken way too many candies daily!

Driving to work is always very tiring as it’ll take an hour to get there so I usually stock up my car with mints which I never fail to consume daily to keep myself awake while driving. Is it advisable to stop entirely though? I seem to have gotten too used to it, it feels like an addiction… to mints 😀

Jan 01.2019 | 04:38 am

    Taetske

    Good afternoon Riaz,

Thank you for your comment on my website. I hope you downloaded your free PDF?

Well, to answer your question I can offer you a couple of substitutes for all those mints you seem to be eating.

How about some almonds, natural, not toasted with salt, and some walnuts. They are good for your health.

The other option is some black chocolate, at least 75% cacao or more. Some, not a whole tablet of course.

If you like mints then instead of eating them the whole day how about keeping them for the weekend, like a treat? It is no good to get stressed about foods, as stress is also bad for your health.

    Regards, Taetske

Jared

Sugar is more addictive than cocaine, and probably just as dangerous! What a heading and isn’t that too true. Most people don’t realize that ANY sugar is a drug and it’s a dangerous one that most of us get addicted to really young.

I would say sugar is probably the number one reason for a lot of diseases out there yet fat gets the blame. I like how you talk about natural fats too and staying away from man made fats, fake salt and diet sugars. People also don’t realize sugar is in EVERYTHING even our milk. I remember seeing that by the time we are 3 years old we’ve had a wheel barrow of white refined sugar! Just from the milk!

Oh my! I always check to see how much sugar a label has now. Thanks for this article. One question, where would I download the PDF?

    Good Morning Jared,

Thank you for your visit and for leaving a comment. I hope you downloaded your free PDF? Tulip widget.

I discovered this company which offers free downloads and thought is would be a nice idea for my website to say thank you to my visitor for leaving a comment. They have more than 80. million downloads on their menu and you can choose what you want. You will find it on my side bar where I have my tulip widget.

As we always know better, we sadly started to make man made foods and most of it is crap. The saying goes, you are what you eat, and that is so true. Personally, I am a big fan of extra virgin olive oil. I should not forget coconut oil and coconut milk and the eggs from my happy chickens. I am blessed to live on a farm in the south of Spain so I can grow a lot of things myself. Yes, that is a good idea to read labels.

The impact of High blood sugar is highly underestimated for human body. Millions of people are suffering from diabetes, heart and liver disease, diabetic retinopathy, foot disease, paralysis, dementia and many other diseases.

It is hard to control sugar even if you know it is a problem. Because the food indunstry is married to sugar. You are forced to buy sugar related products to live unless you grow and be strict not touch sugar.

I just learned about the depletion of trace minerals from the body and vitamins. This is terrible.

Thank you for this important article.

    Good Morning Anusuya,

The food industry has tricked us in eating unhealthy things that taste so good we cannot stop. We have to reeducate our tastebuds and that is not easy.  All these modern day ailments are caused by eating man made foods and with time it will only get worse.

Mother Nature provides for all our needs, but we have to invent new things that harm us. If you can grow your own food or buy locally and organic. Keep those sugary things for a treat now and then.

Hello  Taetske, thanks  for sharing this interesting information . It really is not easy to stay away from sugar in our daily day life, most foods and snack have some  hidden sugar in them, It would be good if the health organizations would inform about this. From now on, I will take care to read the labels.

The problem is that we tend to eat these foods every day, not realizing it has so much hidden sugar. Keep these things as a treat and for the rest eat healthy and natural foods. Your health will improve considerably.
