The different Fats and their effects on our Bodies

In our modern world, many people have a problem with digesting fat. This is especially true when people have had their gallbladder removed. Why is it that this type of operation is so often performed to start with?

One big reason lies in the way we are eating. Our diets are too high in sugar and processed carbohydrates and that can harm us as it makes us have insulin resistance.

To support a healthy digestive activity it might be a good idea to take a supplement that includes an enzyme with a combination of Ox Bile, Amylase, Protease, and Lipase so your gallbladder can function well and is also good for optimal fat and lipid utilization. We should take this type of supplement before each meal.

This is a brilliant book on the different fats

Dr. Mercola, you probably know him as the bestseller author of The No Grain Diet, highly recommends this book.

Saturated fats like coconut oil, red meat from grass-fed cows, and butter are important to weight loss and health. Let us undo the myth that dietary fat is bad for you. The only thing is you have to choose the right type of fat.

In the book, you will find three programs to help you on the way to a healthier you. Plus, you will get some yummy coconut recipes thrown in for good measure.

.

The Healthy Alternative to Trans Fats

.

The different Fats we eat

It is important to check which type of fat we have in our diets. Do not eat refined cooking oils like corn or soy. Fried foods and also margarine are to be avoided. These types of fats are dangerous to your health as they are trans fats because they create inflammation and are linked to heart disease.

You will find healthy oil in avocados, you can eat one a day if you like, extra virgin olive oil, unrefined coconut oil, olives, seeds and nuts, and butter from grass-fed cows and their meat.

Coconut oil is Healthy

I would like to go more in-depth on Coconut oil. The reason being that the information out there is contradictory and like that is confusing the people. When there appears an article in the USA Today with the headline, Coconut Oil is not Healthy. It has never been Healthy.

What would you think? Probably you would think I better steer clear of this oil. This is wrong as there is not 1 single study that shows that coconut oil causes heart disease.

The American Heart Association (AHA) has still not acknowledged this fact.

When reviewing this good video, it shocked me. At minute 4.55, I see Fake News on the screen. I will keep this video on my post because I stand behind what this doctor explains. This is censorship and I am not surprised my website is doing so badly after 4 and a half years.

Because of all this censorship, I started a new website in May 2020. Please have a look. The silenced voices.

It will still take a while until we come to recognize that a low-fat diet does not save us from heart disease. It is the opposite. A low-fat diet can significantly contribute to heart disease. The AHA has been broadcasting that “fat is bad and will kill you” How wrong they are.

We were told to eat a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet and eat lots of starchy carbs. AHA gets a lot of money from cereal makers. It is argued that cereals are fat-free but often hold up to over 70% in sugar. So you can imagine that eating cereals is bad for you, period.

The people in the South Pacific have used coconut oil for thousands of years with no ill effect.
It has quite some health benefits like raising your HDL, the good cholesterol.

People from those cultures who have a high intake of this oil, sometimes like 60% of their diets, have no heart disease. Coconut oil is also antifungal and anti-microbial and it contains lauric acid, which is a great help for your immune function.

Our Personal Responsibility

We are responsible for our own health, that is why we have to be informed well about the different options we have. The AHA has invented the “heart-healthy” label so when you go shopping you can easily find these “healthy” foods. Most of the time you end up buying something low in fat and high in sugar.

The AHA is against healthy fats and promotes fats like canola oil, for sure an oil to be completely avoided. One should ask who sponsors the AHA and then come to one’s own conclusion. I take a couple of spoons of coconut oil a day. On my breakfast toast, I put extra virgin olive oil. I think I am rather doing well for my 71 years of age.

Dr. Mark Hyman has written extensively on Healthy Fats. He is a well-known and respected doctor.
He has written many books. You might care to look at this one, “Eat Fat, Get Thin Cookbook”.

Before you leave, you might like to have a look at Recommendations. It is a page I made for you with things I find interesting. I hope you will find something of your interest too.

Thanks for this great article. I knew that the Heart Association invented the “heart healthy” label, but did not clue in that they were mistakenly promoting sugars above fats. Its no wonder we are in a diabetes crisis in North America. You have mentioned the adverse effects for heart health, are fats good for diabetics?

    Good evening

    ,
Thank you for reading my post on the different fats. Heart disease, diabetes, immune disorders, inflammation, all these are ailments caused by our unhealthy eating habits and lifestyle. A private person has not got a say in everything so if his surroundings are unhealthy, radiation, air, water etc one can only go and live somewhere else. We do have a say on what we put into our mouth. I think a lot of people are brainwashed by the commercials making them believe something is good for them when it is not.

I believe that high-calorie diets rich in saturated fats cause these type of ailments, also diabetes. I have to differentiate of course. Bacon or fat in red meat are saturated fats but do not clog your arteries. Margarine and canola oil to just name a few as an example, considered “Heart Healthy” they are the culprits as it is polyunsaturated fats (PUFAs) Good fats as are contained in nuts, seeds, avocado and also virgin olive oil and coconut oil have a beneficial effect on your health. The modern diet has far too much of Omega 6, a change in diet will bring back the balance.

I was really surprised to see that you’ve included margarine in your ‘no-go’ list for fats not to consume. I eat it regularly and I was always under the impression that it was low fat…I didn’t realise that it was actually full of trans fats!

Bearing that in mind – would you say that more regular, full dairy butter is a better long term health option when it comes to buttering your bread?

    Good afternoon Chris,

Nice to see you again. For many years we have been fed wrong information. Remember we were told no eggs, no salt, no butter or meat, and the list goes on. Margarine is a stupid human invention, it is not a natural product.

Lets go back to nature, there we will find the things which are good for us. Over time people have not become healthier, just look around you. Even with the so-called Health Care, we are worse off. I am sending you a link on margarine, I would say stop eating it. Butter from happy cows = organic will not harm your health and try some virgin extra olive oil.

    Thank you for your visit.

Rob S.

I can’t agree more that there is too much sugar that we eat. It’s the cause of my diabetes and I’m working on it.

I know there are good fats and bad fats but we do need the good fats.I write about coconut oil on my website because I know it’s very good for you.

Anything that is heart healthy is what we should be eating. It’s really time we took serious notice of what fats are good and which ones aren’t.But you, the thing is, just knowing what’s good doesn’t cut it. We must take action and actually follow through with the beneficial knowledge that we know.

I’m going to look into Mark Hyman’s book too. Thank you!

Over time I have adopted healthy habits. Virgin extra olive oil, seeds and nuts, avocados which grow here on my farm, and I take 3 soupspoons of coconut oil a day. My personal food evolution started in 1986. I tried out many things and think I am now eating the things which are good for my health.

Do have a look at Dr. Hyman, he really is good.

It all goes back to eating simply and food straight from nature as opposed to highly processed foods that we have all become accustomed to.

Even coconut oil which has received a lot of flack lately is healthy as I thought all along. I think the simple rule is when it comes to fats, everything in moderation.

What you find in nature is normally good for us. Man-made food is definitely not, too much sugar, salt, bad fats, additives etc. No wonder the population is so sick and big Pharma is booming.

I cook with olive oil and use the extra virgin for my bread and salads. I eat coconut oil like 2 o3 spoonfuls a day and also use it for oil pulling. My HDL is high and my LDL is low, just like it should be.

The beginners guide to Information about Different Fats is what I would have penned this post. You have lots of information at your finger tips and I may add your topic was well researched. For many years I have been cooking with very little vegetable oils. I switched to olive oil but discovered that cooking with coconut oil is more healthier and gives my stews and curries a more aromatic taste and is less fattening. A highly recommended post

I have been living on my organic farm in the south of Spain since 1981. I have been using olive oil all those years. It is only more recently that coconut oil entered my house and I must say I like it and eat a couple of spoonfuls a day and also use coconut milk.

I have not used it for cooking but will try as you tell me it makes stews and curries have a more aromatic taste.

I will forward the link of another post you might find interesting.

Dave Sweney

This was a great article on the different fats that we eat and their effect on the body. There is so much misinformation out there these days it is hard to know what to believe. We have sold Coconut Oil from Thailand and the Philippines, and they use it in their diet all the time with no ill effects.

That is why I was so surprised to see the reference to the USA Today article talking about how bad Coconut Oil is for you. I can say that I personally use it all the time for cooking and it is a lot better than the oils that are refined and have the trans fats in them.

The rest of the information was also very useful for me. I have bookmarked the page because I want to come back again and reread it a couple of times. There is always so much to learn on your website, I should likely just keep a browser tab open so I can save time getting here! Thanks for all your work oon this!

    Good afternoon Dave,

Nice to see you again. Thank you for your comment.

It is quite amazing when one compares countries with their food information. I do get the impression that the U.S. is far behind in wanting to shield its citizens from harm. The things that are still on the market, the chemicals which are in food, all of this is very worrying. Especially worrying when in other countries most of these things were banned a long time ago.

The question arises why this is. I think there is a big flaw in the total set-up. The fact that money is put before the health of the population is awful. I have seen too many examples of this so now I believe it.

Having 2 websites and investigating more has confronted me with things in our world which I had no knowledge of before. Nice to hear you find my posts useful.

I will continue eating my coconut oil in spite of what that Harvard professor said.

Interesting. I’m a big fan of keto diet so I knew coconut oil is more preferable than canola, corn and soy oils but I wasn’t aware of health benefits of it. I think I’m gonna start using coconut oil for cooking instead of olive oil. Also, I still can’t believe American Heart Associates still approves those unhealthy oils and sugary so called “low fat foods” to be sold at stores. I hope more people will do own researches before making buying decisions at the store.

Olive oil and coconut oil are both healthy and good for cooking with. It is very important to be informed as aggressive advertisements try to make us believe unhealthy foods are healthy. Do not fall in the trap.

I find it appalling that the AHA still insists that low fat is good.

Hi; my opinion on eating fat is that whether we eat fat or not, we can get some form of heart disease; however, some fats are not good for the body.

One would wonder why consumer protection allows these brands on the markets.

I believe that every refined oil (fat) manufacturer can manufacture life aiding cooking oil from plants like Olive Berries and Coconuts as well as some other healthy fat producing plants. In so doing the fear of heart disease will be stabilised.

    Good afternoon Dorcas.

When we eat man-made foods it will cause a problem sooner or later. It will clog up the arteries, it will cause inflammation, not the best condition to keep your heart healthy.

That bad products are on the market is due to a clever scheme. Companies have to invent new products and sell them to keep alive. Advertisements will mislead people in believing it is good for them. The FDA  will approve harmful ingredients. Big Pharma and the companies will fill their pockets at the cost of our health.

Thumbs up at your review. Healthy foods are very important and good for our health. There is no gain in consuming unhealthy fats which in turn brings devastations. I have learnt to always eat avocado almost everyday. I would like to know about eating dried red meat, does  it have any effect on the heart?

Mar 16.2019 | 09:36 pm

    Taetske

    Good Morning Kenechi,

Nice to see you again. Thank you for your visit and comment.

That is a very good habit to eat an avocado each day. You can eat it with vinegar or honey and use it in many dishes. I have 4 trees on the property so I also often eat avocados.

You asked if dried red meat is good for you and your heart. In general, one can say that all processed meat is bad. If you eat it a couple of times a month ok, but every day would not be good. I have a post where I mention this, here is the link,

You have a very informative article. Nevertheless, I still hold my opinion about coconuts. Coconuts are saturated fats, but as far as saturated fats go, this one isn’t the worst. We simply need to be reasonable with the amount of its intake and focus on improving the quality of our diets like eating more whole foods and healthy fats.

Mar 16.2019 | 09:50 pm

    Taetske

    Good afternoon Jeanskiee,

Olive oil, coconut oil, avocado, nuts and seeds, those are the good fats.

Man-made food is the problem as very little of it can be considered natural. We have turned away from nature which is a shame. Just look at the people. I find it very contradictory as we have “better” healthcare but more sick people. One has to be well informed to be able to live a really healthy life.

Matiss

Wow, by the injustice on coconut oil I’m absolutely staggered. I’ve heard people rumoring that it’s bad and all that stuff. I even participated in a heated conversion on a party once where the opposing party was absolutely certain of the fact that coconut oil is bad and avoidable. It took me well over an hour citing all kinds of studies to prove my point.

There are real dangers out there when it comes to media. This is not the first (or sadly the last) time they get something really wrong. I’m absolutely puzzled by how often they mislead people when it comes to health advice. It’s ridiculous. And the readers obviously have no concept of critical thinking and assume every article a journalist creates to be 100% accurate.

But that’s rarely the case. Furthermore, the deletants (people who read one article and now proclaim themselves to be experts) that they create poison the minds of others. And we end up with most of the civilization misinformed. It’s insane.

I really appreciate you sharing the word on the misconducts of our poor quality media and news agencies.

Carpe minutam,

Matiss

It is quite amazing what the wrong advertisement can do. I think one can call it brainwashing. As we have become very visual in modern times you get this wrong information presented, the whole time in bright colored photos. You see it everywhere and that is probably one of the reasons people think it is true. They rush off to get the next Big Mac deal, quite awful.

I neither listen to this Harvard professor who, not long ago, proclaimed coconut oil was bad for you.

I am happy my better half agrees on my food choices so we do not have a discussion on these type of things.

I absolutely love coconut oil. Cooking with it, eating, using it for all kinds of deserts, letting my husband massage me it, every once in a while oiling my face with it, you get the moment. And I’m done enough research to know that it’s health. But your point taken, there is a lot of contradictory information. A lot.

I mean it even got me confused at times. Certainly, have many people I know confused. And that media article – well it’s nothing too new, I have a feeling they get stuff wrong all the time. So, I’m avoiding them purposely. 🙂

And AHA also seems to be one of the confused ones. “Fat is bad and will kill you” that’s just propaganda. It already has been exposed that there is no link between health concerns and healthy fat consumption. Furthermore, it’s been known that that link was wrongfully but purposely in the 1950s established by three well-respected scientists in the field who linked all kinds of disease with fat instead of sugar. You can only guess who ordered the study. Sugar industry by paying each of them 50 thousand dollars, which in today’s money value is well in the millions.

The examples you put forth are really good. Completely agreed.

Thank you for sharing!

The whole set-up is really scandalous. It has been going on for too many years already. People are being fooled and pay with their health when in the meantime the big companies earn the money.

To be well informed is the only thing we can do to then make a good decision, not so easy. That they get things wrong, well, could be acceptable but the problem is they knowingly get it wrong. How many studies that were not agreed with have been swept under the carpet?
