Coconut oil and its many uses

I am a fan of coconut oil, and I use it for its health benefits every day. Even my dog Cindy gets a spoon of coconut oil every day, but I will tell you about that a bit later.

I will tell you about its health benefits, be it for inside use or outside, so you can make an informed opinion if you would also like to introduce it into your daily life.

Interesting YouTube video on the coconut tree.

Coconut oil and the AHA

First of all, I want to tell you what I heard from Danette May. I subscribe to her newsletters and often find interesting pieces of information. What I just heard is more than bad. Do you know what the American Heart Association (AHA) has come up with? It is really unbelievable. They put out a warning on butter, steak, and also coconut oil.

They claim that the saturated fats from these foods sources cause heart disease! This is absolutely wrong and I would like to tell you why you should not listen to the AHA.

One should realize that not all saturated fats behave the same in our system and cutting them out would mean you miss out on their health benefits.

  • Clarified butter is a great detoxifier and promotes a healthy colon. It is anti-inflammatory and helps to keep good insulin levels.
  • Coconut fat is rich in medium-chain fats and it also helps to keep the right insulin levels and one important aspect is that is paramount to your brain health.

Is a low-fat diet really good for you?

The list of unhealthy things which will cause heart problems is long and directly connected to our modern lifestyle and foods. The list includes refined flours and sugars, eating the harmful refined oils, not enough fiber in our daily food, and too little antioxidants as we do not eat enough healthy fruits and vegetables.

We should also remember that a stressful and hectic life for sure is not good for our heart and neither the sedentary modern lifestyle.

Already 50 years ago one heard it would be better to eat low-fat products. Well, has it helped, not at all. People have only gotten sicker and heart disease, obesity, Type 2 Diabetes, and Alzheimer’s, just to name a few of modern time illnesses have been on the rise.

How come the AHA insists on spreading this wrong information. The truth is sad. To the AHA, your health is not important but filling the pockets of “Big Pharma” and major food companies is. It is as simple as that.

The sicker the entire population gets, the richer these companies become. More unhealthy man-made food is put on the market and with a lot of commercials, they fool people into believing it is good for them.

This is really a must-have little book

Be a little adventurous in your kitchen and start using coconut oil for cooking. You will find some delicious recipes here and some useful cooking tips and tricks. This is a good switch in your habits and your health and the health of your family will improve.

Coconut oil is good for your Skin

Many cultures worldwide highly value Cocos Nucifera as it represents a source of food and also has medical benefits. These people call it the Tree of Life. Obviously, the coconut has to go through a process to extract the oil from the coconut flesh. The resulting product is called  “virgin coconut oil”. It goes only through this 1 step process and they use only bio or organic nuts.

This nice tasting and smelling oil is full of saturated fats of which a big part is medium-chain fatty acids. A big part of these fatty acids is lauric acid. It kills harmful microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Coconut oil contains vitamin E, which helps the skin to be protected from free radical damage.

Nowadays we smear our skin with mineral oils, which are mostly made from petroleum. It is used in baby lotions, body and face creams. When one thinks our skin is our largest organ, why do we put on petroleum, which suffocates our skin?

A much better and healthier option is to use coconut oil. Your skin will be thankful as you will have no acne. The skin is smoother and cleaner. On a clean face, gently dab a small amount of virgin coconut oil it will soon penetrate into your skin and leave a delicate smell. It is also good for rough elbows and feet.

Have a look at this YouTube video on the health benefits of coconut oil.

Coconut oil has many health benefits

It helps with coughs and constipation. Also, with toothaches and earaches, skin infections, and a lot more. Imagine, before World War II, coconut oil and its uses were well known and appreciated. After the war, a strange thing happened which, now looking back, had very negative consequences.

The United States announced that hydrogenated oils were “Healthier Oils”. By the 1960s, a poor scientific study claimed that saturated fats like butter, eggs, milk, red meat, and coconuts increased “bad” LDL cholesterol. Mainstream media picked up on this, and soon nearly the total population shifted in their eating habits. Now we know the disastrous results of this, people only got sicker while eating “Healthier”.

People started to eat Canola oil. In nature, animals and insects avoid it. It is not a natural product but made from rapeseed which contains cyanide, animals know better and keep away from it.

Then there is the cottonseed oil, which is also man-made. Cotton is not a food crop, but an industrial one. It is an industrial plant full of pesticides.

Safflower is no good either. It is high in Omega 6 and the rising intake in the American diet was showing disastrous effects. Omega 6 is not healthy for your heart.

Another danger on the oil list is soybeans. It is a GMO, hormone-disrupting health risk. It is strange, but until recently, people were told it is healthy to eat soy products. Soy is good for you if fermented, but what we eat is not fermented and poses a health risk. Always read your labels, as the 4 bad oils mentioned can be found everywhere and also in the food you eat.

Coconut oil

Your Thyroid will thank you if you start with coconut oil. Over 13 million Americans suffer from low thyroid. We eat too many men-made foods, which contain iodine blockers. Too little iodine and your thyroid cannot function properly. If your thyroid is off, you have difficulty in losing weight, especially in women who will have this problem.

Besides boosting your thyroid function, coconut oil is good for your skin, it is food for your brain; it is a great detox, fights cancer, and helps you to maintain a healthy heart.
When will you start eating coconut oil?

A personal example of the use of coconut oil

The last thing I would like to tell you about is the use of coconut oil for your dog.

Cindy on the Patio

Cindy on the Patio

Dogs benefit just the same as humans from the use of coconut oil. It will fight infections, which is good because dogs stick their noses everywhere. It is an excellent remedy for itchy skin as it moisturizes and battles harmful bacteria. It will provide your dog with a healthy-looking coat. Coconut oil absorbs foul odors so you can cuddle your fur friend again.

The same is valid for the oral health of your pet as it fights bacteria. As coconut oil has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, it will be helpful in the case of arthritis. The increase of fatty acids keeps the tendons and joints lubricated. The list goes on.

My dog Cindy, a Rottweiler lady of 12 years old, has a large tumor (about the volume of two hands) under her arm. She gets a cocktail of healthy things like CBD oil, vitamin D3, vitamin supplements, and also a spoonful of coconut oil a day. She still climbs the staircase every evening to be with me in my workroom.

I really think it to be a good idea to introduce coconut oil into your life. I am sure you soon will notice the health benefits.

Here comes some more information you might find interesting. Recently, a Harvard Prof claimed that coconut oil was bad for you. The entire world is now talking about this statement. I will give you a link to one of the many articles that were published.

I am very happy I came across Dr. Hyman time ago. I receive his newsletters and videos. He is a firm believer coconut oil is good for you. It is a superfood for your brain and people with dementia and Alzheimer’s have benefitted greatly, taking like 3 spoons a day.

Do have a look at what Dr. Hyman has to say.

I have made a special page for you. You will find a selection of things that might be of your interest. Please have a look at Recommendations.

    Good evening Tim,

Thank you for visiting my website and leaving a comment.

Nature has so much to offer we only have to look and keep an open mind.

In most cases natural things do not have side effects but this does happen when one takes man-made pills.

Introducing coconut oil into your life you cannot go wrong.

      Hi,
This is a good content. Coconut oil has also been recommended by the great Professor who is specializing in human hair. It has been proven that Coconut oil improve the quality of hair, more especially ours – the people of color. It prevents it from falling and restores broken hair.

It smoothens the skin, and coconut is very good in relieving stress. But I am allergic to coconut products. My face swell immediately after I applied or ate anything with coconut. Can yoiu provide a solution to this problem?

        Good afternoon Sandikazi,

Thank you for visiting my website and leaving a comment. I hope you downloaded your free PDF?

That is really a shame you are allergic to coconut oil be in external or internal. Luckily Mother Nature provides many solutions. I would suggest you try avocado oil or sweet almond oil. Both are also very good. You might like to try Argan oil but that is rather expensive.

    Good Morning,

A shame you did not tell me your name as that makes talking to my readers more personal. Just recently there was a Prof. from Harvard who said Coconut oil is bad for you. It is awful that there is so much contradictory information as people do not know whom to believe. In the meantime, our health is at risk. Remember the days where we were told to not eat salt, no butter etc. etc. Fact is that in our modern time’s man-made food is harming us, better stay close to nature. Thank you for visiting my website, I hope to see you again.

Thank you so much, Taeske, for the great article! To look up this information was on my mind for a long time already. Finally, I found it on your site. I don’t read any news anymore for years. Bad for your health. But my husband told me about that statement: Coconut Oil would be bad for you, that you refer to. Even though I din’t believe it I wanted to look up the information first. Since then I used less Coconut Oil cooking. I love it especially for our banana pancakes. Yummy! I love to eat Coconut Oil, brush my teeth with Coconut Oil and baking soda, and put it on my skin.
I totaly agree with your opinion that pharma and co is only making more money from more problems they help to create.
Thank you for sharing this important information and making our World a better place.
God bless you!

    Good afternoon Jenna,

Nice to see you again. Thank you for your comment.
So you are also a coconut fan? very good. I eat it every day and often use it for my skin. Sadly Cindy is not here anymore then she would get it too. It is so upsetting that all the good things nature has to offer are so often denied and hidden from us on purpose. That is why one has to be informed about everything so to be able to make good decisions for one’s health. We are responsible for it.

Nature has so much to offer for our well being and health. Coconut oil is a very healthy oil and it is a good idea to introduce it to your diet as it has multiple health benefits. Men always think they can improve on nature but one can see that is completely wrong.

The coconut oil is useful in the production of various cosmetic materials .Recently, a friend gave me a book that contains numerous uses of the coconut oil . The one that caught my eye was the use of coconut as teeth whitener and has anti inflammatory. The numerous uses of the coconut oil is inexhaustible.

Am of the opinion that coconut oil should be a direct replacement for soy oil in every home.

    Good Morning Olalekan,

Thank you for your comment on my website. Nice to see you again.

I do oil pulling every morning and my gums have improved a lot using this method. In my house, there is no soy oil. I only use coconut oil, olive oil, and a little butter. Back to nature is the best thing we can do for our health.

Thanks for sharing about the benefits for Coconut Oil, and I never knew how it could really help, especially with your skin, coughs and constipations. Also, it’s really ironic that the mainstream media promoting certain oils that were thought to be healthy but made people sicker too.

Will definitely start to look into incorporating Coconut Oil into my diet. Do you have any idea where I can get started with this or where I can buy some coconut oil? Thanks!

    Good afternoon Terence,

Thank you for stopping by and for leaving a comment. I hope you downloaded your free PDF? Tulip widget.

I buy the Coconut oil in the health shop in the village. It is organic and cold pressed, that is important.

The taste is a little sweeter than olive oil so you have to take that into account when making a dish. Here in the house we only use Coconut milk, even in my coffee. Besides using the oil for cooking try taking a couple of spoons a day, it is very good for your health and the taste is actually nice so you will get used to it quickly.

Aluko kolawole

Hello,

From my online findings on the topic, I know the many health benefits of coconut oil. It is a tropical oil derived from the flesh of coconuts, you’ll see both virgin and refined coconut oil. The specific type you’re buying will be indicated on the front label. Virgin coconut oil is less processed than the refined version, and that preserves its sweet, coconut-y tropical flavor. Refined coconut oil goes through more processing, which leads to a more neutral smell and flavor. Because it doesn’t have that telltale tropical taste, you can use the refined kind as a main cooking oil for a variety of recipes.

Coconut oil is great as a personal care product. Some benefits are a follows – create a diy hair mask, deep condition, add shine, minimize dandruff, use as a first step face wash, freshen your breath, remove eye makeup and lots more.

Thank you for sharing.

Aluko.

    Good Morning Aluko,

From your comment I can see you are a coconut oil fan, just like myself. I have been using it for many years. Especially as oil pulling. It has benefitted my teeth and gums. I have also noticed that when your skin is rough, to use coconut oil helps a lot. What specially interests me is that people with Alzheimers and Dementia benefit greatly taking some soup spoons a day. Coconut oil is food for the brain.

Thank you for your visit and for your comment. I hope you downloaded your free PDF? Tulip widget.
