Do you eat G- BOMBS on a regular base?

Have you ever heard of G- BOMBS? I did not until recently when I received one of Ocean Robbin’s emails about this topic. It has to do with 6 types of foods one needs to eat often. Ocean got this information from Joel Fuhrman, MD who is a firm believer that the G-BOMBS are extremely helpful in preventing chronic diseases, even cancer, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and many more ailments which plague our modern life.

G-BOMBS stands for the healthiest, immune-boosting, disease-fighting foods, and they should form part of your daily diet. Let us have a look at what these foods are.

Green soup with Broccoli and Leak

The Letter G stands for Greens

Eating a pound of raw leafy greens will only count 100 calories, but they are packed with many nutrients. They help with weight loss, as you can eat as much as you wish.

The typical American diet only boasts of a tiny part of these greens, but they hold a sizeable amount of plant protein, they are rich in folate (the natural form of folic acid), calcium and small amounts of omega-3 fatty acids.

To keep your eyes healthy eat greens, as they contain lutein and zeaxanthin. Kale, bok choy, broccoli, and Brussel sprouts are a good bet. Cruciferous vegetables contain glucosinolate and when you blend, chop or chew a chemical reaction takes place and converts glucosinolate into isothiocyanate compounds that have an anti-cancer effect.

Beans sold on the market

The Letter B stands for Beans

There is proof found in Thailand that beans were cultivated and eaten 9000 years ago. In Afghanistan and on the Himalayan foothills, people gathered a wild variety of beans.

Most countries worldwide eat beans and other types of the Leguminosae family. Beans are digested slowly, and it seems to act as anti-diabetes and also a weight-loss food. They help in feeling full for a longer time period, so you eat less.

Your cholesterol levels will get better because of the soluble fiber in the beans. Beans are an ally in preventing colon cancer because while in the intestines, it converts them into fatty acids by your intestinal bacteria. Eating beans, peas or lentils twice a week can give significant protection against different cancer types, like kidney, stomach, oral, and larynx.

Garlic

The Letter O stands for Onions

When I cook, there is hardly a time where I do not use onion and garlic. It seems to be the basis for any meal. Onions, together with leeks, garlic, chives, and shallots, make up the Allium family.

Eating these vegetables helps with keeping your cardiovascular system healthy as well as your immune system. They are able to prevent the growth of cancer cells; they detoxify and stop angiogenesis.

Mushrooms in a basket

The Letter M stands for Mushrooms

China seems to be the country where most mushrooms are cultivated, other important countries include Italy, United States, and the Netherlands. I love mushrooms and remember, while being a small girl living in Holland, my parents and I would go to find mushrooms in the forest near our home. My Mother would make lovely dishes, which I enjoyed a lot.

There has been a recent study in China. They found that women who ate fresh mushrooms, like 10 grams a day, had a 64% decreased risk of breast cancer. If they then combined this with drinking green tea, it reduced the risk to only 11% in premenopausal women and 18% for postmenopausal women.

There are many types of mushrooms like portobello, oyster, shiitake, maitake, and reishi mushrooms. All of them contain anti-cancer properties.

Besides, mushrooms are special as they have aromatase inhibitors. Even the normal mushrooms like white, crimini and portobello have this substance. Aromatase inhibitors can block the production of estrogen. There are drugs on the market which contain this component.

One should not forget to cook the mushrooms as some types have agaritine, a negative substance which is greatly reduced by the cooking process.

Colorful Berries

The Letter B stands for Berries

The United States is the top producer of blueberries. Other countries include Canada, Poland, and Germany. Who does not love eating blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries?

We consider them superfoods. I can not always find these fruits fresh on the market, so an excellent alternative is to buy them frozen. They do not have a lot of sugar but have a lot of nutrients. They are some of the highest antioxidant foods known.

Eating them often will help with reducing blood pressure and inflammation. They help with reducing DNA damage and battle Alzheimer’s and Dementia. This is an excellent food for your brain and they taste delicious.

The letter S stands for Seeds

Personally, I am a lover of seeds. I put them on my different berries, mix in some other fruits and some natural yogurt and wild honey. This combination makes a great lunch. Seeds and nuts are full of healthy fats and should be on your menu every day. Flax, chia and hemp seeds are rich in omega-3 fats.

If you eat flax seeds, it will help to protect your heart. In sunflower seeds you will find a lot of protein and minerals, pumpkin seeds have a lot of iron and calcium and also zinc. Sesame seeds have the biggest amount of calcium of any foods in the world and even an abundant source of vitamin E.

Nuts like walnuts are very good for your brain. When you look at a walnut, it represents the brain in small. Funny how the shape of different foods often tells you for which organ of the body it will be beneficial.

In summary, greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries and seeds/nuts should be a part of your everyday diet. In general, you will be able to shop for these foods at your local market. Of course, always try to buy organic.

Add some supplements to your diet

Organixx, a great company with excellent products, just click on the photo and it will take you to their catalog of products. Our food is deficient in minerals and vitamins. That is why we need supplements added to our diet. Take a look. I think you will not be disappointed.

A must-have book

An outstanding book written by Dr. Ameet Aggarwal ND. They vote this doctor as one of the 43 Top therapists in the world. His advice is worthwhile taking to heart. He is a 5-times- best-selling author and knows what he is talking about.

Conclusion

After reading this information, do you think you will be adding G-BOMBS to your diet? They are a big help to maintain your health. Also, the fact that we eat too many men-made foods with all its side effects shows the need to go back to nature. Your health will thank you.

Perhaps you like to read my post on healthy sweeteners. Too many foods have Aspartame added which is extremely bad for you. To know it has been approved by the FDA does not mean it is good for you. Always do your own research so you can make an informed decision about what you eat.

I believe in the G-Bombs power especially if they stay unprocessed and eaten. This is the way the people of the old time consumed available blessings around them and they lived longer than us today.

I know these are all available on the market the only problem is that fruits and vegetables are so expensive than carcinogenic food.

Would you agree with me?

    Good Morning Abagatan,

Thank you for your comment. I fully agree with you that in old times the foods were more natural and more healthy. If you are lucky you can grow your own food but ofcourse not all people can do that. I go to my local once a week market and there prices are very good. Most things come from local farmers. I think it is best to eat less but quality foods. On the long run you will keep a better health for many more years.

Very interesting article, one which has introduced me to this new concept of G BOMBS.

I can see that these ‘bombs’ are made up of a family of greens and fruits/veggies, but some people can’t really take on too many of these (due to stomach problems). I only ask as my son is one of these people who can’t consume too many greens due to a stomach condition – what are the normal servings for this technique to work?

Oct 21.2018 | 12:29 pm

    Taetske

    Good Morning Chris,

Sorry to hear about your son and his stomach condition. Please keep in mind I am not a doctor so this is purely my personal opinion.

The the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the foods we eat are often loaded with toxic things we do not see. These chemicals have a disastrous effect on our health and some people show symptoms when other people do not. Recently I wrote a post on edible landscapes which had a link to children suffering from cancer caused by the pesticides on lawns.

In the case of your son you might try to eliminate for a certain time like between 1 to 3 months a certain food group. Gluten, Dairy, Sugar, Men made food in general. Taking 1 food group away you might observe a positive  reaction and then be able to adjust his meals accordingly.

Raw vegetables are a bit more difficult to digest for some people, steaming or the Wok way of cooking might be better.

Thank you for your comment, with best wishes.

    Regards, Taetske

Hi and thank you so much for creating a very useful article. You rightly point out that most people won’t be including enough of the ingredients to G-bombs in their diet and that’s a real shame. As you point out some great benefits if including these food groups in our daily lives. Thanks for this and I hope there will be more to come soon. Kenny

    Good afternoon Kenny,

In 1986 I stopped working and that was the time I really started working hard on my farm. I started to read a lot about food and health and slowly but surely my eating habits changed. I think I have reached a good balance by now. Not all things are good for all people, one has to try it out and see what happens. At the moment I feel good with a diet which is mainly natural things with of course the little sin here and there.

    Thank you for your comment.

Great article.  These are foods I really need to pay attention to especially leafy greens.  I find it difficult to balance my diet with these foods since fast foods are so convenient. I really believe that obesity is so common in western countries because people don’t eat G-BOMBS and super foods.  Children aren’t taught how important these foods are. Thanks for highlighting the benefits of each.  It’s a timely reminder for those wanting to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.  A healthy lifestyle also includes exercise and eating G-BOMBS  will give your body all the energy it needs for an active lifestyle.

    Good afternoon Celeste,

Thank you for leaving a comment on my website. Did you download your free PDF?

It is a shame that children are not taught about the benefits of a healthy diet. They will follow their parent’s guidelines. Modern life makes that time is often too short to cook a healthy meal. The convenience of fast food has far-reaching and negative effects on our health. Clogged arteries, heart ailments, Dementia and Alzheimers and the list goes on. I really think the human race is going in the wrong direction. We would do good to return to eat natural foods.

I found interesting new stuff in your blog. I had never heard of the G-Bombs but I think it’s a healthy diet. I like Berries and I eat a good amount of mushrooms, beans, and seeds but Greens have no place in my diet. I should revise my diet and add more greens to it. I’ll search about delicious and healthy salads as a first step. Thanks.

Oct 21.2018 | 12:38 pm

    Taetske

    Good afternoon Albert,

I think that is a good idea to start with more salads. A lot of green and purple leaves can be eaten raw, like the leaves of beetroot as an example. A good shot of extra virgin olive oil, some honey and mustard, a little bit of apple cider vinegar, some shredded carrot, an avocado, hard boiled egg, tomato and then sprinkle some different seeds on top and voila, there is your meal. I wish you fun with experimenting.

Thank you for your visit and leaving a comment.

Hi Taetske,

I have not heard of G-BOMBS so I found your article intriguing.

I’m glad it advocates easily found food sources that are not a stretch to my grocery budget.  I usually get a little disillusioned when recommendations are made for products that I have to get at specialty stores.

This kinda tells us to go back to basics, no?

I was happy to note that I eat at least 4 out of the 6 of the G-BOMBS every single day!  In reading your article, I started recognising that when I don’t have my usual mix of at least 4 of the G-BOMBS (usually when I have to eat fast food), I never feel satiated and have digestive difficulties.

Never thought of eating mushrooms raw though … and to be frank, I don’t think I have the courage …

Cath.

    Good Morning Cath,

Thank you for visiting my website and leaving a comment. I hope you downloaded your free PDF?

People are often worried that healthy food is more expensive than fast food. Fast food does not hold the good nutrients and it includes a lot of unhealthy crap. So with eating healthy food we actually need less food so I think if one chooses wisely it will not be a strain on the budget.

That sounds good that you eat 4 our of the group of 6 G BOMBS already every day. You will be happy you did when you get older.

When you make a mixed salad try some sliced champignons, personally, I think it gives the whole an interesting flavour.

Jessie

Thank you so much for the awesome post!  I can say with a definitive yes that I eat planty of G-BOMB.  I do not, however, eat many seeds!  That is something I should probably work on but it is hard to not only pay for seeds, but to find a way to make them fit into my own diet, and taste good.  I used to buy chia seeds and put them in a blender with smoothies, but the cost was too much after having two kids and cutting back on my budget.

    Good Morning Jessie,

Thank you for your comment. Nice to see you again.

For lunch, I often make the following mix: Pumpkin, Sesame, Sunflower, Chia, and Flaxseeds. I put them in a soup bowl and soak with coconut milk and Kefir. A shredded apple, banana, or other fruits on top and lunch is ready. To make it really nice 2 big spoons of full-fat Greek yogurt and some raw honey. Especially in summer, I like this as lunch or only fruit.

I know it can be difficult on a tighter budget but it is better to eat less but quality food than fast food which is harmful.

Hello again Taetske!

Nice title G-Bombs :). They are very valuable foods, if many of us overcomed our modern commodity and went for raw Green Bombs like Broccoli, white & colored beans (quite tasty when prepared…), onions, mushrooms, and the rest rather than looking for prepared products, our cooking experience would be richer and more interesting, then our bodies would surely have a different digestion, and – why not admit it? – a different state of health, that would reflect into our mood too!

I cooked Broccoli myself, it is not very easy to find in the area I live in. This is a special Green!

Kind regards, Peter

    Good Morning Peter,

You hit the nail on the head, food influences our mood. As Mental, spiritual, and physical are related to what we eat it has an influence on our physical state and influences the rest too. That is why the cleaner we eat the more balanced we will be.

I like to eat Broccoli raw or put pieces and make an omelet with the eggs of my happy chickens. I once had a chicken who died at the ripe age of 10 years old. She had not put an egg for many years. I think she had a jolly good life for a chicken.

    Thank you for your comment.

Hello Taetske!

That’s an amazing and educative article you shared there. I’ve never even heard of G-BOMBS before, talk more of how benefitting they can be to the body. Since they are the healthiest, immune-boosting and disease-fighting foods, I am more interested in considering them in my daily diets. It pays to be healthy.

Thanks

    Good Morning Caro,

It definitely pays off to take care of your health. I started to be interested in food in 1986 and over the years went through my own food evolution. I am 70 years old now and am happy to say I am healthy and do not take any chemical pills. Living on my organic farm and eating mainly clean food, the fresh air and sunshine, all that contributes to remaining healthy.

Thank you for your visit and for your comment. I hope you downloaded your free PDF? Tulip widget.
